After several soak tests for the next major software update for the DROID X2 by Motorola have been confirmed by users, Verizon has added the official documentation on its support webpage.

Although the carrier has yet to announce the availability of the upgrade, it seems that the soak tests have been completed successfully and the deployment of next iteration of Gingerbread operating system for DROID X2 is imminent.

The upcoming 1.3.380.MB870.Verizon.en.US software update provides a range of improvements and new features for DROID X2.

Beside bringing the smartphone's firmware to version Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread, the update will add several major improvements and corrects lots of issues that have been previously reported or discovered by the manufacturer.

Motorola DROID X2 owners will be happy to know that the virtual keyboard will remain visible during text input, as previous reports indicated occasional flickering of the keypad.

In addition, input characters will now be properly displayed during text entry and the device will no longer lockup or reset when using the keyboard.

Other improvements included with the update are detailed below:

- Charging indicator will display only when the device is plugged into a charger;
- Home key functions correctly while the device is in the desktop cradle;
- Successfully use the camera after unlocking the device;
- Video quality has been improved for video recording and playback;
- Mobile Hotspot password can now exceed 63 characters;
- Improvement to the device stability limits resets and lockups;
- The Magic Smoke live wallpaper animation now works properly
.

It is also worth mentioning that the audio quality while streaming music has been greatly improved.

Several bugs have been corrected as well, including Desktop cradle application, which will now start correctly and the error message displayed when purchasing the Let's Golf app.

Furthermore, songs won't be skipped while playing MP3s through the Music App.

I just downloaded. I like how everything is fixed, including the smoke wallpaper. But now my complaint it when you lock the screen. It like flashes at me. I really don't like it. Wish that locking it was as nice and smooth as it used to be..

That flashing is supposed to simulate a tv turning off. I think it's a nice touch personally.

My X2 is still resetting. It's more consistent now, about once a day now, but it's definitely more annoying. What a waste of $200 ... don't look now but the X2 is only $99 now. I wonder why?

down loaded the update and it still the same problems with the keyboard. sometimes it done even open or pop up and it force closes. it phone freezes up and sometimes shuts off on its own. the camera is very slow to open took 18 seconds one time just to open up, so many battery pulls and rests just to make it work right. even after the so call software update. droid x2 phones suck.
