Verizon has stock issues with it's most popular handsets

Verizon's DROID family of mobile phones is becoming increasingly popular. In case there are some who might have doubts about this, they should head over to the carrier's website to see that the latest additions to the series, namely the DROID Incredible by HTC, launched in the end of April, and DROID X by Motorola, released last week, are both shipping with delays. Verizon Wireless customers interested in the purchase of one of the two would have to wait for about two weeks to receive their unit in case they place the order today.

It comes rather as a surprise that Verizon allowed for the DROID X units to ship with delays to its customers. Prior to the handset's launch, the wireless carrier said it loud and clear that it managed to secure enough DROID X units to cover the original demand. However, the supplies lasted only for about half a day in some areas, or even for less in others, and the DROID X' shipping was pushed back several days starting with day one.

One thing that is certain is that Verizon was unprepared for the huge demand DROID X enjoys, and the same applies to Motorola, though they should have considered the situation better. At least when looking at the impressive success the original DROID by Motorola had at Big Red, as well as at the stock issues the company has had with another Android-based device, the DROID Incredible by HTC, which enjoyed such demand during the pre-order period that the carrier had it shipping with delays right from the start.

All in all, some good news are also available. It seems that Verizon's stock issues with the DROID Incredible might have finally come to an end. The handset would ship by August 3 in case it is ordered to day, but that is the same expected shipping date as the one attached to it more than two weeks ago. In other words, either Verizon is able to gradually covering existing orders, or a smaller number of customers are interested in the handset, as their focus switched towards DROID X. Hopefully, the first version applies. The DROID Incredible can be ordered from Verizon's website here, while DROID X is available here.
