Verizon Wireless announced last week the upcoming release of a new Android-based mobile phone from Motorola, namely the DROID X, and a few more details on the device have just made it into the wild. The info comes from the 68 page user guide for the DROID X, which has been leaked, and which can offer info on what is packed inside the device and the Android operating system it runs under. While the user guide includes a wide range of details that users should already know, it also packs a great deal of screenshots that would offer a better idea on the device and the software pre-loaded on it. More info on this is available here.

In the meantime, we should take a look at some info on another Motorola handset expected to land on shelves in the near future with Google's Android operating system on board, namely the Motorola DROID 2. According to the latest news on this device, it should become available for purchase at Verizon on August 23, about two months from now. In case there are some wondering why the delay, the answer seems to be pretty simple. The handset is set to be released with Android 2.2 on board, and Motorola is working on having the solution finished by that time.

The upcoming DROID 2 is thought to sport the same software as the solution that Motorola should release for DROID X owners in August. DROID X is foreseen to become available for purchase at Verizon on July 15, and the wireless carrier already started the pre-orders period for the handset. And it seems that a wide range of its users are able to order a DROID X in advance, including those who placed orders for the DROID Incredible.

The Android-based phone from HTC has seen a great deal of delays at the carrier, mainly due to stock issues with certain hardware components, and its seems the Verizon might have decided to offer its customers a new option. Instead of having them waiting for about one month to receive their DROID Incredible, Verizon reportedly enables users to change their order to a DROID X, which is expected to become available on shelves a couple of weeks earlier than DROID Incredible would ship.
