Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless seems to have hard times with keeping some of its latest Android-based devices in stock, and the DROID X by Motorola is one example in this direction.

Verizon Wireless customers interested in purchasing this device from the carrier would have to wait until September 10th for the handset to be shipped to them.

The Android-based device proved highly popular ever since it landed on Big Red's airwaves a few months ago.

Although the mobile phone carrier promised before the launch of DROID X that it has enough units in stock to meet initial demand, the phone was sold out in the first hours of availability, and started shipping with delays ever since.

As stated above, Verizon customers interested in getting the DROID X from the carrier's website and placing an order today would have to wait for about two weeks to get their unit.

This would be the second Android-based mobile phone that shares this fate, after DROID Incredible by HTC was shipping with delays for about three months or so.

At the moment, the high-end device is being delivered in time from Taiwan-based handset vendor, which managed to resolve stock issues with it through switching from AMOLED displays to SLCD ones for Desire and Nexus One.

However, no specific info on what's causing the DROID X delays were unveiled, nor on when the situation might return to normal.

One other interesting fact that should be noted here is that the DROID 2 by Motorola, a newer device than DROID X, is in stock at Verizon.

However, the original DROID by Motorola was not present on the carrier's website at the time of this article.

This is something that has happened before, most probably the result of DROID 2's arrival, as this is the true successor of DROID, packing the same form factor as the original, but better specs.
