Recently, Verizon Wireless started pushing out a new software update into the wild, namely the Android 2.2 OS for its DROID X users, and a series of issues is already reported as coming along with the update.

DROID X by Motorola is the latest handset from the leading mobile phone maker to have received an update to the Android 2.2 Froyo operating system from Google, but it seems that things were not as great as expected with the upgrade.

According to various DROID X owners out there, the new firmware update brought a wide range of issues along, ranging from problems with the phone's messaging capabilities to issues with the audio functionality of the device.

Among the reported issues, we can count SMS problems, camera lag, increased battery usage, random rebooting, text notifications issues, freezing keyboard functionality, as well as ring tones problems.

It appears that both Verizon and Motorola acknowledged these issues, and announced that they are working on a fix for these problems, which should arrive to users in the form of a new software update.

“Okay. I have news. I talked to our engineering team and it appears that this will require a software upgrade to correct it. They are already on it and seemed confident that they know the why and the how-to-fix,” a Motorola employee notes in a recent post on the company's forums.

“I don't have any timeline on when an update will be released, but when I know more I will let you know. Sorry for this trouble and thanks for all the good detective work and for reporting it,” he continues.

Unfortunately, no specific info on what issues are to be resolved with the upcoming software update emerged for the time being.

Moreover, no info on when the solution would arrive emerged either, though it appears that Motorola will try to speed things up a little, so stay tuned to learn more on this.
