DROID X by Motorola, the latest Android-based mobile phone wireless carrier Verizon added to its popular DROID line, is currently seeing shipping delays for units ordered via the operator's website, while being sold-out in many Verizon Wireless Communication Stores. Prior to the phone's availability on July 15, Motorola reportedly delivered two software updates for the device, and it seems that they are preparing yet another such solution for the new handset.

According to Verizon Wireless' support page, the new software update is expected to arrive on DROID X units out there as 1.13.604.MB810.Verizon.en.US/Baseband: BP_C01.09.04P, and should being along a nice range of enhancements and improvements. Following the update, DROID X owners would be able to benefit from the features of a My Verizon application, while enjoying an Amazon Kindle application that enables them to access and read thousands of Kindle books straight from the Android-based device.

The release notes of the new software update also include: - Improved battery charging status indicator. - Smoother transition for camera and camcorder functions. - Redesign of weather widget icons. - Faster Exchange ActiveSync email loading. - Streamlined organization of newly downloaded applications. - Organized favorite contacts by call count. - Updated Bluetooth connection for enhanced video sharing experience. - Coordinated date and time across phone displays. - Cleaner looking status bar for GPS symbol. - Improved sync capabilities for 3G Mobile Hotspot. - Faster Visual Voice Mail loading.

The update process is expected to kick off today, July 19, with all users set to taste the aforementioned enhancements and improvements. As for when users would be receiving DROID X units ordered today, that should happen on July 27, Verizon's website shows, though further delays would certainly emerge. Both Motorola and Verizon were expecting for a strong demand for the new device, but it seems that the number of people interested in the phone actually outpaced their expectations, and DROID X is currently living the same story as DROID Incredible did a couple of months ago.
