The latest Android-based mobile phone Motorola and Verizon are set to add to the DROID family, namely the DROID X by Motorola, is already available for pre-order at Best Buy. Starting with June 25, all Verizon customers interested in having the next gen DROID in their hands at launch can head over to Best Buy to order a unit in advance.

“With the buzz we’ve seen around the Android platform, Best Buy is confident that consumers will be thrilled about the Verizon DROID X by Motorola pre-sale,” said Scott Anderson, senior director of merchandising at Best Buy Mobile. “It has been a great summer for smartphones with the HTC EVO and iPhone 4 launches, and the addition of the DROID X adds another strong option for our customers to consider.”

The new DROID X by Motorola comes to the market with a large 4.3-inch touchscreen display, with an 8-megapixel photo snapper with 720PpHD video recording and playback capabilities, and 8GB of internal memory, complemented by a microSD memory card with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space. A wide range of connectivity options are also available with the device, as well as support for various services and applications, including Google Mobile Services and location applications and services.

The price tag the new DROID X hits the market with has been set at $199.99 upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement with Verizon Wireless. However, it should be mentioned that, while the phone would be sold at Big Red with a mail-in rebate attached to its price tag, Best Buy has removed the rebate from the equation, and those interested in pre-ordering DROID X would pay only $199.99.

“Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile have truly become the leading destination this summer for all your mobile smartphone needs – from HTC EVO 4G from Sprint to the iPhone 4 on AT&T to the upcoming DROID X on Verizon. Enthusiasts of the Android platform can be the first to reserve a copy of the new Verizon DROID X by Motorola today at Best Buy. The pre-sale begins June 25 and the smartphone will land in stores on July 15,” the retailer announced.
