Verizon delays its shipments until August 11th

The DROID Does campaign strikes again, this time with an ad clip for Verizon's newly released DROID X mobile phone. A new video commercial has emerged into the wild not too long ago, putting on display one of the nicest features the high-end Android-based mobile phone comes to the market with, namely its 3G mobile hotspot capabilities.

In case there are some who might have not encountered the feature just yet, we should note that it is meant to enable customers use their DROID X device as a mobile hotspot. Through it, they can connect a number of up to five Wi-Fi enabled devices (laptops, handsets, media players and more) to Bog Red's 3G network, so that they can benefit from Internet connectivity at all times.

The short video below would show you how easy it should be to benefit from this feature. Of course, it does not come for free, but it is appealing enough to make users add in to their months plan. DROID X was not the first handset at Bog Red to feature it, nor will it be the last, it seems as DROID Incredible is expected to receive it too via a software update. It's worth mentioning that the future Android 2.2 OS also comes with this functionality packed inside.

DROID X is currently one of the most popular devices at Verizon, that's for sure. Currently, the wireless carrier seems to have some issues with keeping up with demand for the DROID X by Motorola, and notes on its website that it would ship by August 11th, which marks a delay of almost two weeks. The phone was in short supply right from launch day, when Verizon's stock vanished in a few hours.

Chances are that demand for DROID X would increase even more during the following weeks, as Verizon was recently rumored to plan delivering the Android 2.2 Froyo update for the device starting with August 6. Those of you interested in ordering the device would find it available at Verizon here.
