It will soon be available in Blue, Orange and Violet accents

Motorola and Verizon launched the DROID Turbo in the United States back in October 2014. Despite the fact that Motorola promised to offer an Android 5.0 Lollipop update soon, the smartphone is still powered by Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system.

Even so, Verizon thought it would be wise to bring additional versions of the DROID Turbo to the market. The DROID Turbo in Limited Edition metallic colors will be available at Verizon beginning May 28.

Customers will be able to purchase the DROID Turbo in three unique colors: Metallic Blue Accents, Metallic Orange Accents and Metallic Violet Accents.

The smartphone will be available on Verizon Edge for $20.83 a month for 24 months, or $500 off contract. In addition, Verizon confirmed that, for a limited time, customers would be able to get $150 or more when they recycle their old smartphone and purchase a DROID Turbo on Edge.

Moreover, customers might get $100 bill credit within 2-3 billing cycles when their bring their number to the Big Red and activate a new smartphone on Verizon Edge.

Verizon promises Lollipop update is coming soon

So, beside the fact that it will ship with Android 4.4.4 KitKat right out of the box, the DROID Turbo sports a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution.

The handset is equipped with a 2.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, an Adreno 420 graphics processing unit and 3GB of RAM. Motorola DROID Turbo lacks microSD card slot, but it comes with either 32GB or 64GB of internal memory.

Motorola's high-end smartphone boasts a 21-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features autofocus, dual-LED flash and 4K video recording. Also, there's a secondary 2-megapixel camera in the front for video calls and selfies.

Verizon has also confirmed that DROID Turbo supports Advanced Calling 1.0, and that the smartphone will soon be updated from KitKat to Android 5.1 Lollipop.
