Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless is expected to add to its offering in the near future a new Android-based mobile phone that would sport the DROID moniker, namely the DROID Incredible 2 from HTC, and more info on the network support this device would sport emerged recently.

Apparently, Big Red aims at making the new mobile phone available on its airwaves with global connectivity capabilities, something that was not available with the original DROID Incredible.

Overall, the new smartphone, which was not officially confirmed as of yet, should land on shelves with about the same specs as the HTC Incredible S that was launched at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

However, it would also include features that are unique to it, and the recently leaked info that Android Central brought to the web shows that.

According to these leaked documents, the new HTC Incredible 2 would arrive on shelves at Big Red with global roaming (both GSM and CDMA radios inside) for “more than 220 voice and 200 data services countries.”

The phone should also include a 16GB microsSD card, DLNA media sharing, 3G mobile hotspot connectivity, along with a 1.3 front-facing camera to enable video calling.

Other specs of HTC Incredible 2 would include a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, complemented by 768MB of RAM, 1.1GB of internal memory or an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back.

It would also offer WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity options, as well as GPS receiver, 3.5mm headphone jack, and the usual set of sensors.

The HTC Incredible S comes to the market with Google's Android 2.2 Froyo platform on board, yet the DROID Incredible 2 is rumored to pack Android 2.3 Gingerbread right from the start.

No specific details on when the new device might become available for purchase have emerged until now, but rumor has it that it could be launched on April 21st, one week after Verizon releases the Samsung DROID Charge.
