DROID Charge, the second 4G LTE-capable mobile phone in Verizon's lineup, is expected to receive an update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread in the not-too-distant future, and the handset can already be seen running under this OS flavor in a video that emerged on the Internet only recently.

The handset was made available for purchase at the wireless carrier only a few months ago, with Google's Android 2.2 Froyo operating system on board.

Unfortunately, although the phone is expected to taste the Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS soon, the same as the other two LTE smartphones at the wireless carrier, nothing is known on when the update might arrive on DROID Charge.

Although other handsets did taste leaked ROMs that brought them up to the latest OS version from Google, nothing was made available for this mobile phone.

Until specific info on this emerge, however, users can have a look at the device running under Gingerbread in the video embedded below, courtesy of mydroidworld (via).

DROID Charge was spotted there with the Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread OS flavor on top, though Android 2.3.4 might be considered for when the update arrives as well.

One other thing that should be noted here is the fact that the Netflix application seems to be running on the device, which should prove a great feature for all users, that's for sure.

On Verizon's LTE network, having access to a video streaming service such as Netflix means that users will benefit from a great experience while viewing clips on the go, especially on a powerful device like the DROID Charge.

However, as stated above, nothing is known for sure at the moment on the upcoming availability of the Gingerbread update for the mobile phone, though the emergence of this video suggests that it might not be too long before things are made official, so keep an eye on this space to learn additional info on this.
