The DROID Charge has been the target of numerous rumors lately, which culminated with the delay of the smartphone, which was expected to be launched on April 28th.

However, the latest hearsay point to the fact that Walmart has also picked the 4G LTE network compatible device and will be releasing it on May 3rd.

The phone's price has also leaked, courtesy to the guys over at Android Central. The DROID Charge will be available for purchase for $298.88, which is exactly $1.11 cheaper that Verizon's price.

Costco seems to be another major retailer that received its first stock of DROID Charge units yesterday, which may be another proof that the device nears its official launch.

Although there is no official evidence that points to a May 3rd release, it is likely that the DROID Charge will be available for purchase from Verizon and other authorized sellers sometime this week.

Even though customers will have to pay a high price for the DROID Charge, the device is stuffed with several goodies that should meet any pretentious user's needs.

Manufactured by Samsung, DROID Charge was introduced back in January during the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show.

The phone comes with full support for Verizon's 4G LTE network and features a large 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display.

Perhaps the only drawback of the smartphone is the single-core 1GHz Hummingbird processor, which is inferior to any dual-core CPU embedded in other Android devices.

Still, users will be able to take advantage of the phone's superior 8-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash, touch focus, face and smile detection and video recording capabilities.

In addition, the 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera seems to be perfect for users who are often using the video-call functionality.

Equipped with Wi-Fi connectivity, the DROID Charge allows users to connect up to five other Wi-Fi devices to their phone thanks to the Wi-Fi hotspot capability.
