One of the hottest mobile phones on the market today is the Motorola DROID, which is avaialble for purchase in the United States on the airwaves of wireless carrier Verizon. Running under Google's Android operating system, the Motorola DROID managed to impress about everybody at the end of the last year, and Verizon seems set to make the phone as appealing as it was in the beginning, pointing its customers towards various applications that can enhance their experience.

We've already learned about various apps that the carrier recommends for those who purchased the Motorola DROID, and now it's time for a few more software solutions to be put on display, it seems. According to Verizon, since there will be a series of events held during February, and since some of them are related to sports, users might want to try out some of the apps that will bring the latest news on these events directly on the DROID.

Among the apps Verizon recommends this time, we can count: - NFL Super Bowl Showdown Theme – With the Big Game this weekend, customers can get ready for the showdown between the New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts. Get in the spirit for $3.99 with the only Android theme officially licensed by the National Football League. - Vancouver 2010 – Official Mobile Game – Customers can embrace the spirit of the Vancouver Olympics with this thrilling game packed with five electrifying sport events, including snowboard cross. Customers can play solo or against friends for $5.99. - SportyPal – SportyPal is intuitively designed to help customers improve their performance in running, cycling, blading, walking, skiing and other workouts. This free app activates when users begin their exercise and with two clicks will start to log and map position, movement, distance, tempo and calories burned. When finished, performance information will be stored on the mobile device with the option to review or compare it with other exercises or to check workout achievements. - Twidroid for Twitter – Customers going to the Big Game can download this app to keep their followers up to date on all of the action. It’s available for free and supports all Twitter features, including tweeting, video posting and photo posting.

All of these applications, as well as thousands other more, are available for download and purchase via the Android Market. Moreover, those who would like to learn more on recommended software solutions for the DROID can check on the Verizon Channel in the Android Market, where these apps are on display, and from where they can learn more on other solutions that can fit with their mobile phone.
