Two weeks ahead of its official launch Motorola DROID 4 shows up at indirect retailers, which are expected to retail the smartphone beginning December 8.

As we already reported earlier this week, rumor has it that Motorola Mobility and Verizon Wireless plan to release the DROID 4 and Galaxy Nexus around the same time frame, December 8.

However, it looks this wasn't planned ahead, instead the carrier was forced to postpone the launch of the Galaxy Nexus, the first Android smartphone to come with Ice Cream Sandwich on board, due to some bugs found during testing.

The folks over at DroidLife were tipped on the DROID 4 December 8 launch date, a few days ago, but no details on the phone's specs sheet emerged until now.

According to an internal document leaked via DroidLife, the DROID 4 is expected to arrive with a 4-inch qHD capacitive touchscreen (either LCD or AMOLED), which boasts 960 x 540 pixels resolution and support for 16 million colors.

On the back, the DROID 4 features an enhanced 8-megapixel camera with LED flash and autofocus, as well as full HD (1080) video recording and playback capabilities. There's also a secondary front facing HD camera for video calls and chats.

Obviously, the smartphone is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, but it won't come as a surprise if Motorola will push the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade for the DROID 4 sometime in 2012.

At first glance the smartphone strongly resembles the recently launched Motorola RAZR, however, the DROID 4 features a slider form factor. The phone comes with a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard that offers users a more comfortable and easier way to type messages.

On the inside, the DROID 4 is equipped with a 1.2 GHz dual core processor and packs 1GB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion.

The phone is powered by a 1750 mAh battery that is rated by the manufacturer for up to 12.5 hours of talk time for up to 8.5 days of standby time.
