Differentiates itself from Xtreme

Mobile phone maker Motorola recently stated that we might see a number of around 20 Android-based handsets pushed from its labs to the market during the ongoing year, and rumors on two of them (Shadow/Xtreme and DROID 2) started to emerge not too long ago. No official confirmation is available for the time being, but a newly leaked photo, which follows previous ones, shows clearly that some rumors do pan out: the Motorola DROID 2 and Motorola DROID Xtreme are two different devices.

The Motorola DROID Xtreme (MB810) surfaced in two photos only a couple of days ago, showing to the world that it is a Verizon-bound handset, courtesy of the carrier's logo being present on its back. This time around, we have the chance to take a look at another long-rumored handset from Motorola, the DROID 2 (A955), a side-sliding device that should bring forth a QWERTY keyboard, stepping into DROID's shoes.

A photo with the phone's keyboard made it into the wild too, clearly showing that DROID's successor would bring a different layout into the mix. Some specs for DROID 2 (A955) emerged as well, including info on a 3.7-inch touchscreen display, or the fact that it should boast about the same dimensions and shape as the original DROID.

One way or the other, it's almost certain that the photo published by Droid-Life shows the activation screen of Motorola DROID 2, and, although it is a blurry picture, we can still make an idea of what the device will look like. With previous rumors suggesting that Verizon would prep for the release of two DROID devices from Motorola as soon as July, and with things almost sorted out between DROID 2 and Xtreme, all that remains to do is to wait for the official announcement to see when exactly the two brothers arrive. Hopefully, we won't have to wait too long for that to happen, so stay tuned for more info on the matter.
