Earl Simmons, aka DMX, is one of the few black artists that managed to make such a strong impression on the music stage, and not only.
Known for his aggressive lyrics, music and behavior, he is also famous for the troubles of staying within the legal boundaries that plagued him for the past 15 years. He just can't seem to abide the law as any other American citizen would. This time, he was pulled over for speeding in White Plains and he couldn't talk his way out of a police check-up.
When the officer summoned, stopped his black Chevrolet and asked for his driving license, it was discovered that his New York driving privilege had been suspended for two other felonies. DMX's excuse was simple: 'I'm sorry. I'm in a big hurry'. In the end, the police charged him with 'aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, speeding, seat-belt and unsafe-lane-change violations', according to The Journal News.
These continue a long line of offenses, ranging from the use of obscene language during a performance, to abusive behavior on a flight and illegal drug and weapons possession.
