Panasonic has just rolled out its announced Early October Firmware for DMC-GH4 and DMC-FZ1000 Cameras that adds the new 4K Photo mode which allows users to record 4K videos in order to capture a specific frame from it later on.

When entering this mode, you will be able to set the recording format to MP4, the quality to 4K/30p/100Mbps (GH4: 59.94Hz / FZ1000: NTSC) or 4K/25p/100Mbps (GH4: 50.00Hz / FZ1000: PAL), and the luminance from 0 to 255.

In addition to that, the 2.0 firmware update includes all the promised changes, such as 4:3, 3:2, and 1:1 aspect ratios, the Loop Recording functions, as well as other changes that you can view on the description page of each download.

As for installing the new firmware, first check the currently installed version found on your camera, and make sure it isn’t either newer or matching the present release.

If all is ok, simply save and unzip the proper archive for your camera model, ensure the battery is fully charged, and copy the newly extracted .bin file onto a formatted SD card. Afterwards, insert the card into the camera while it is powered off.

Now turn on the device and agree with the installation process that should automatically display a “Start version up?” message. Upon completion, turn off the device, remove the SD card, and enjoy your newly improved imaging unit.

That being said, download Panasonic DMC-GH4 Camera Firmware 2.0 or download Panasonic DMC-FZ1000 Camera Firmware 2.0, apply the update, and check our website as often as possible to be aware when a new version is available for your device.
