Everyone's talking about high-definition (or HD) nowadays and this is the reason why quite a large number of manufacturers try to associated their products with this moniker, although this association is quite often a bit...ridiculous. And the latest such company is Digital Lifestyle Outfitters (or DLO), who has just announced its HomeDock HD, which, upon closer inspection, is nothing but a mildly pimped-up docking station for Apple's famous portable player, the iPod.

Thus, the main selling point of the HomeDock HD is its capability of upscaling the video signals transmitted by the iPod to 1080i or 720p through an HDMI connection. Furthermore, the device still maintains compatibility with analog TVs via its S-Video and RCA connections, which means that it has been specifically designed in order to answer the demands of a broader range of customers.

As mentioned earlier, the device from DLO has been specifically designed to work with the iPod, namely iPod touch, iPod classic, iPod nano, iPod video, iPod mini, etc. Practically, the HomeDock HD works with pretty much every dockable iPod out there and is also capable of charging every player connected to it.

In addition to providing the aforementioned features, the new HomeDock HD also features an all-new RF remote control, enabling users to control their iPod playback from up to 100 feet (30 meters) away and even through walls. Additionally, the on-TV interface of the HomeDock HD features album art in an icon-based visual flow format, which is supposed to improve the overall user experience.

The HomeDock HD will be available in the spring of 2008 for $249.99, which is a bit too much to pay for this thing, especially if we take into consideration the fact that, after all, there are hundreds of similar models available on the market, quite a few of them available for lower price tags.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
