The trend to prepare and release downloadable content soon after the initial release of a videogame seems to be here to stay. Dragon Age: Origins received DLC from BioWare to encourage people to pick up the game new, Mass Effect 2 is set to get fresh content fairly quickly after launch and now it appears that BioShock 2 has been confirmed as getting new stuff and, as the developers say, in an aggressive manner.

KentHudson, who is a senior system designer working on BioShock 2, told Australian Gamer that “We are working on pretty aggressive plans for DLC and that's actually something that is already under way. That is something that is mostly being run out of the Marin studio because like I said the Australian studio is already ramping up on the next big thing.” The company man did not share any more details on the exact nature of the DLC.

BioShock 2 is set to be released on the PlayStation 3 from Sony, the Xbox 360 from Microsoft and the PC on February 9. Take Two is saying that the new videogame will improve on all the elements of the original title while also keeping the same tone and style.

With Andrew Ryan killed in the first game, the action moves some years into the future as another ideology-heavy character, Sophia Lamb, moves into Rapture. Where Ryan was obsessed with individualism and making sure that each man in the underwater city realized his full potential, Lamb is more interested in the community and puts the good of the many before the needs of the few.

The player is set to take on the role of the first created Big Daddy, which has somehow broken free from his conditioning and is heading back to Rapture to find his missing Little Sister. Lamb does not like the interference and a new boss enemy, the Big Sister, makes an appearance.
