The new hobby drone will be official soon

Traditionally unreleased smartphones and tablets usually leak online before their official announcement, but this pattern does no longer apply to mobile devices such as these.

For example, hobby drone enthusiasts are pretty excited as DJI prepares to roll out its latest quadcopter into the wide world.

Now a bunch of images showcasing the upcoming DJI Inspire 1 drone have been leaked online, seemingly captured in a test flight.

DJI is a famous Chinese company which produces commercial and recreational UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicle) and one of their most popular products you are probably familiar with is the Phantom 2 drone.

Inspire 1 drone launches soon

The Inspire 1 drone is expected to be announced on November 12, so we don’t have much to wait until the quad copter is offered for purchase.

The spy shots show a device that’s quite familiar to a “transformable aerial vehicle” which appeared in a patent from DJI that was published back in mid-September, so the images seem to be quite accurate.

The photos you’re going to see in the gallery are part of a private test flight and were posted by SB-DJI.com. There’s also an official teaser (you can check it out in the video below) but the video only gives us a sneak peek of the drone.

The upcoming drone is quite exciting for a few reasons. First of all, it is expected that the flying quad-copter will have a three-axis gimbal that will accommodate a 4K camera from the maker.

Something along these lines can be spotted towards the end of the video. However, it will still be cool if the drone would turn out to be compatible with different 4K-ready cameras such as the Panasonic GH4.

Word on the street has it that DJI will also include an FPV monitor in the controller, but that’s an aspect that hasn't been confirmed yet.

The images leaked online aren't clear enough to tell whether we have a monitor present or not. As can be seen, a controller exists, but given that the drone in the pictures is a prototype, the commercial outcome might be quite different.

The rest of the specs remain unknown

Apart from this information, we don’t have many details related to the capabilities of the device, but only the fact that the drone will carry a 4K-ready camera onboard is enticing enough.

Pricing is also unknown at this moment, but if you’re curious, be sure to tune with us tomorrow to get the information about the DJI Inspire 1 drone in full.
