DJ Mister Cee, who has been with Hot 97 from New York for two decades and helped break in huge names like Notorious B.I.G. and Big Daddy Kane, has resigned from his position in a new soliciting scandal.

For the past several years, Mister Cee, real name Calvin Lebrun, has often made headlines for personal matters, such as his inability to stop soliciting women, for which he was also arrested a few times.

A few days ago, a drag exposed him online for paying him for favors. In a touching speech just hours ago, the deejay explained that his decision was entirely his own, MTV News reports.

That is to say, he did not resign because he was forced to but because he felt his personal problems had gotten so big they were affecting his “97 family.”

“[Today is] my last time being on the air on Hot 97, yours truly Mister Cee. I am officially resigning from Hot 97 today,” he announced.

“I went through a lot in the past two years and I've tried to rise above those situations, I have tried to move forward from these situations and unfortunately every time I try to move forward, it's like I take one step forward and then two steps back, and I'm hurting the people who are closest to me, which is my Hot 97 fam,” the deejay added.

He did not address the scandal in detail or even reference it indirectly, going on to say that he was resigning because it was “time to move on.”

“I am good, I am safe, I am happy, I am blessed, but in reality I knew that this day would come. Whether it was because of the mistakes I've made in the past or whether it was just time for me to move on, I knew that at some point, this day was going to come, and so the day has finally come where Mister Cee has to move on,” he explained.

“It comes a time when you have to be a realist and understand that what do you affects others, and you don't wanna hurt the people that you love and I love this station. I love Hot 97,” Mister Cee continued, choking up.

A statement from Hot 97 highlights that Mister Cee’s resignation was entirely his decision.
