14 DAY TRIAL // Nothing better to sum up an entire year in pop music than a mashup by none other than DJ Earworm, who has been doing it for the past several years, to the most amazing of results. This year will be no different, so check out his mashup above.
Titled simply “United State of Pop 2013,” with the mention that this is the “Living the Fantasy” edition, the mashup includes most of the tracks that got most airplay this year. Yes, this means a lot of Miley Cyrus, but also Justin Timberlake, Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, Avicii, and Lady Gaga.
Britney Spears also pops up, as also do Katy Perry, Rihanna, and Eminem. No Kanye West, though, which I imagine must be especially hard on his overinflated ego. No Justin Bieber either.
DJ Earworm tells Billboard that, for 2013, he went for a mashup that is a “little darker-themed.” “The ballads seem to be a lot more present than they have been in many years, and the dance music is having less strong of a pull,” he says.
