The team waited in order to pitch EA with a solid game

The team working on Mirror’s Edge 2 at DICE says that its quest for a quality core concept for the game is one of the main reasons that it was delayed for so long.

Patrick Bach, a producer working at the company, tells VideoGamer that “The interesting thing is that it’s not about EA blocking DICE, it’s about DICE not – imagine this: it’s your own money. What do you want to bet on? You want to bet on something that you know will be great.”

The company knew that it wanted to use the Mirror’s Edge universe and mechanics but also aimed to create a game experience that would stand on its own.

The new title in the series was revealed during E3 2013 and, since then, DICE has not offered any clear details on the core gameplay features or on the story.

Fans have been asking for a new title to be offered for years but Electronic Arts has claimed that the game had not created a large enough fan base.
