Video game developer DICE says that it plans to make naval combat an attractive mechanic in the upcoming themed downloadable content for Battlefield 4.

Lars Gustavsson, the creative director at the studio, tells IGN that his team was always fascinated with ship-to-ship battles but failed to create a realistic mechanics in its previous games.

He then describes the feeling of fighting on water, saying, “it’s just like the tanks fighting amongst the sand dunes in 1942, it’s now about coming around your enemy, using the waves, learning to master the waves or even diving underwater to slam C4 on the other boat.”

Some gamers will just use ships as a way to move towards the battle space faster, but DICE expects most players to also fight each other on water.

Battlefield 4 will be launched on October 29 in North America and three days later in Europe on PC and current-gen consoles.
