Patrick Bach, the executive producer working on Battlefield 4, says that the coming shooter can deliver 64-player matches running at 60 FPS because it uses the features of the new Frostbite 3 engine and the extra power of the Xbox One home console.

He tells the official Xbox site that, “Many of the leads on the core Battlefield development team have been working together for years now, some since the beginning with Battlefield 1942. Now that we have the tech, the team and the hardware in place, we can create spectacular, 64-player matches at 60fps on the Xbox One.”

The new title from DICE is designed to offer a similar experience on all platforms, but the team is encouraging players to get it on the next generation of devices from Sony and Microsoft.

The game will feature an emotional single player and a redesigned set of multiplayer modes.
