The development team at DICE working on Battlefield 4 announces that it is currently looking to improve a number of areas of the first-person shooter experience in the coming months, based on feedback that was obtained from the newly added Community Test Environment.

David Sirland, an associated producer at the studio, states in an official blog post that the company has watched live streamed gameplay, analyzed telemetry data, and talked directly with players in order to get a sense of what the community needs.

The first priority for DICE is the netcode for Battlefield 4, and the company states, "Some of the items we’ve been specifically looking at is how to decrease the feeling of getting killed when behind cover and getting killed without initially seeing a damage indicator. The improvements we did were released in June, and we’re looking at testing out additional fixes during the coming months."

When it comes to core gameplay, the company says that it has focused on the content that will be included in the Dragon's Teeth downloadable content packs for Battlefield 4 and it has started with the ballistic shield.

Based on feedback, the studio has decided to tweak shield bash damage so that enemies can no longer be killed with one strike, and armor piercing tank rounds now kill those who carry the newly added piece of equipment.

DICE also offers details on the way it has changed the Rush mode in order to improve balance.

The official update states, "The main focus of these changes has been to increase the balance and flow of the Rush round. Often, this means making it easier for the attackers to tackle certain MCOMs. Some general tweaks have also been made, such as: Commander has been removed by default in Rush; Radar sweep has been reduced around attackers base; Many per map specific changes, MCOM placement and cover passes."

In addition, there are other areas of Battlefield 4 that are currently being evaluated, including weapon balance, suppression use, 3D head flinch dampening, visual recoil ADS tuning, vehicle use.

DICE also wants to enhance the HUD, fix more bugs, and continue to improve the experience in all core game modes.

The studio also invites all gamers to join the Community Test Environment for Battlefield 4 in order to test all upcoming changes.

A new game in the series, called Hardline, will be launched on the PC, the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One and current-gen consoles on October 28.
