The team at DICE working on Battlefield 4 is ready to give its fans a look at how the various classes in the game have been tweaked to offer more tactical options while retaining the identity they have in the previous installment in the series.

Gamers can choose between Support, Recon, Assault and Engineer characters and each of them will be tweaked based on their nationality, Russian, American or Chinese.

DICE goes into a lot of detail about the weapons and items each class will be able to use on the official blog.

Alan Kertz, the core gameplay designer, is keen to show the all classes have a clear role but, in a pinch, they can also cover for teammates.

He states, "This time around the Engineer has a lot more variation in anti-vehicle weapons. We’ve also revamped the way we do vehicle disables and guided weapon systems to give the Engineer a broader set of tactics at his disposal. "

The team also offers information on the other classes and their unique design.

DICE wants to make the entire Battlefield 4 experience more focused on mobility and that means that some feature have been tweaked.

Kertz adds, "Squad players became very mobile in Battlefield 3 and we saw a gap where some of the more team play focused gadgets required players to sit still. We adjusted this by tailoring the kits, the gadgets, and the available specializations."

The designer says that most of the changes are based on requests from the multiplayer community and more feedback is encouraged.

Battlefield 4 will release on the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on October 29 in North America and November 1 in Europe.

Gamers can also pick it up later on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 and both profiles and season passes can be transferred between the two generations of consoles.
