The team wants to create the best possible shooter experience

Patrick Bach, an executive producer working at DICE, believes that the coming Battlefield 4 benefits from the competition coming from other shooter and multiplayer titles that will launch in the coming year, like Call of Duty: Ghosts, Destiny and Titanfall.

The developer tells Gamespot that, “Consumers, first, of course, they get more choice. For us, we need to think about what is Battlefield really about so we don’t dilute the franchise in any way. We need to focus down on what makes Battlefield awesome, and make it even more awesome.”

Battlefield 4 will offer a deep single player, which is set to focus on emotions and characters while also delivering complex battle setpieces, and multiplayer, with a returning Commander Mode.

Bach adds, “I’m happy for the consumer, first, and I think we will step up our game to fight the competition even harder. We think we have the best game; we need to prove it.”

Battlefield 4 will be out on October 29 in North America and November 1 in Europe on the PC and current-gen consoles.

Call of Duty: Ghosts will be its strongest launch competition, coming just a few days later.

The new title from Infinity Ward and Activision takes place in the near future and it seems that the two companies are once again trying to link a solid single player with its already very popular multiplayer modes.

Both titles are also set to appear on the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 from Sony.

In 2014, the two shooters will also face competition from Destiny, the new game from the Bungie team that created Halo, and Titanfall, the Xbox-exclusive game from Respawn Entertainment.

It will be interesting to see whether four franchises that have such pedigrees will be able to co-exist on the PC and consoles.
