Patrick Bach, the executive producer working on Battlefield 4 at DICE, says that multiplayer matches with 64 players running at 60 frames per second are crucial for gamers who want to experience everything that the game has to offer.

The attributes will only be offered in the versions of the game that will be launched on the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 from Sony.

High-end PCs have been running at these parameters for a while.

Bach tells Eurogamer that, “We have a very complicated game with a lot of moving parts We had to decide, yes, we will do this in 60fps. Everything else is secondary.”

He says DICE is aiming to offer the full PC-based experience to those who are getting Battlefield 4 on next-generation devices.

The game is being created using the Frostbite 3 engine, which will increase the overall fidelity of the visuals while also giving players more options to destroy the environment around them.

Bach adds, “12 versus 12, you can keep track of quite a few people, but only so many. When you get to 32 versus 32, that's when it becomes hard to keep track of the other team, when it feels like there are more things going on than just around me and what I can control.”

Only when 64 gamers are engaged in a multiplayer battle at the same time will they be able to stop focusing on their individual area of the fight in order to coordinate with a team and achieve strategic objectives.

The multiplayer mode for Battlefield 4 was introduced during E3 2013, along with the first look at the returning Commander Mode.

Battlefield 4 will be launched on October 29 and November 1 on the PC and current-gen consoles, with Xbox One and PS4 versions introduced before the end of the year.
