IPS monitors are becoming more and more popular these days, and the fact that tablets are becoming extremely popular and mostly use IPS screens is only going to make IPS technology more affordable. Even so, we were quite surprised to hear DELL is preparing a WQHD monitor for the $500 price range.

The new model is reportedly going to be called Dell Ultrasharp U2713HM and it will come with an IPS panel that will have better viewing angles and much better color reproduction when compared with usual TN panels.

DELL’s new monitor will feature a 27” diagonal size and, more impressively, it will sport a 2560 by 1440 pixel resolution, which makes it a Wide Quad High Definition (WQHD) monitor.

The screen format will be the usual dreaded 16:9 and will have LED backlighting.

On the connectivity side, the Dell Ultrasharp U2713HM comes with D-SUB, DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort connectors.
