DEFT Linux 7 RC1 has been announced by Stefano Fratepietro on January 13th.

DEFT Linux 7 RC1 has been in the making for some time, but the developers reported that all of the problems affecting the launch of the present version had been ironed out.

The distribution was tested on a lot on different configurations: Lenovo, DELL, ASUS, Acer, Apple, IBM laptops, IBM, DELL, and a few servers from some of these brands.

DEFT Linux 7 RC1 has new tools that can help users analyze files and databases for new smartphones like Android and iPhone, but other applications, such as DART (Digital Advanced Response Toolkit), were postponed for a later release.

Among the most important applications and updates that made their way into this release, we can mention Linux kernel 3.0.0, Wine 1.3.28, Autopsy 2.24, and Guymager 0.6.3.

A complete list of changes is available in the official announcement.
