DDRMAX Dance Dance Revolution is a video game developed by Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo Inc. and published by Konami Digital Entertainment Inc. The title was created exclusively for the PlayStation 2 console from Sony, and was released in September 2002. It is classed as a rhythm game, played from a third-person perspective, and based on a coin-operated title that was available in the arcade cabinets of Japan.

The game comes complete with a mat peripheral that is essential to gameplay. As the game scrolls arrows on the screen, the player must press the same arrow on the mat. Score is dependent on timing and on hitting all the notes correctly. There are some tricky ones that may appear, and which need to be avoided in order to get a high score.

The EyeToy USB camera, created by Sony, can be used in a special gameplay mode, called Hands and Feet, in which the movements of the hands are also taken into account. There are full motion backgrounds, and the series also sports, for the first time, a move that requires you to hold certain notes.

The game displays rather unusual modes. There's a Workout Mode, in which you are encouraged to burn fat by tracking the number of calories you have used up while playing Dance Dance Revolution 2, and there is also split screen multiplayer. If you are interested in playing the game online, you can find support over the Internet, where up to eight players can get connected.
