With Computex just several days away, any and all PC suppliers and hardware makers are doing all they can to put together as impressive a collection of products as possible. As such, it would be more than unusual for the web not to be filled with leaks and rumors about these upcoming devices. Acer, of course, has grand plans for this year's edition, especially on the laptop front, and the Acer Aspire One 533 is sheer evidence of this.

Some two weeks ago, Advanced Micro Devices finally made a bold step on the mobile front, by bringing out a number of low-power chips. Being the netbook advocate that it is, Acer was quick to become the first company to reveal a netbook based on that platform. Said system is known as the Aspire One 521 and was demonstrated at the Cannes Film Festival. Now, eager to do something for those that want better-than-average entry-level laptops, the Taiwanese player has prepared the Aspire One 533.

This newcomer runs on either the Intel Atom N455 CPU or the N475. The latter runs at 1,83GHz, whereas the former sticks to the N450's clock of 1.6GHz. What makes these processors special is their support for DDR3 memory, which means that the overall performance of Acer's electronic will be much smoother compared to those launched so far. Other specifications include GMA 3150 graphics, a 10.1-inch 1024 x 600 screen, 1GB DDR3, a 250GB HDD, 10/100 LAN, WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0 and a 6-cell battery. The machine should be able to run for up to 10 hours on a single charge.

Since Intel is slated to formally announce the aforementioned chips in June, Acer should make its own offer official immediately afterwards. Unfortunately, no exact pricing and availability details on this chrome-plated mobile PC are available at this time.
