John Smedley, who is the Chief Executive Officer at Sony Online Entertainment, has announced that DC Universe Online, the superhero supported MMO that went free-to-play on November 1, has seen an increase of revenue of more than 700 percent since it no longer forced players to pay a monthly subscription.

On Twitter Smedley says that 47% of the extra revenue is linked to the PC while 53 percent comes from those who play the MMO on the PlayStation 3.

It seems that gamers are most interested in paying in order to get additional character slots and the skins linked to the Vanguard of the Heavens character.

The CEO says that each day the player base for DC Universe Online grows by 6% and about 85 percent of logins are coming from returning players, which means that once gamers are interested in the game they tend to come back to it.

Previously Sony revealed that more than 1 million players joined the game and concurrent player numbers have also gone up.
