14 DAY TRIAL // The next installment in the DC Universe Online narrative, War of the Light Part I, has been officially announced by Sony Online Entertainment.
The DLC introduces a whole new storyline, bringing the Blue Lanterns Corps to the DC Universe Online world and a new tank power set – Rage, which can be used by both heroes and villains.
"Our first DLC introduced Light Powers and allowed players to feel the awesome abilities of the Power Rings employed by Hal Jordan and Sinestro in the pages of the comics," said Jens Andersen,Senior Creative Director for DC Universe Online.
"With War of the Light Part I, we are adding another light power to the mix, this one fueled by the Red Light of Rage. Rage Powers will have a brand new tanking mechanic for players to master, adding a whole new strategy to group content," he continued.
Players will gain access to both new and re-imagined environments in DC Universe Online. Metropolis has been affected by the new war of light, and furthermore, players will be able to explore Mogo, the sentient Green Lantern planet, and Ranx, the Sentient Sinestro Corp City.
The new environments will play a big role in the emerging storyline, and each one of them will be gradually expanded as the trilogy unfolds.
The new DLC is the first in a series of three downloadable content packs that focus on characters that manipulate power from the Emotional Spectrum, and as such additional corps will be introduced during the trilogy.
The plot of War of the Light Part I revolves around the fact that lanterns of all colors lost connection with their emotional spectrum entities. The Green, Sinestro, Blue and Red Corps followed the evidence trail and converged on Earth, determined to find their entities.
The Lantern Corps' conflict resulted in a new War of the Light, and players will have to team up with either Hal Jordan or Sinestro in high-level multiplayer adventures in order to investigate the colored mists that have descended upon Metropolis and are meddling with the citizens' emotions.
The dowloadable content will include a new Power Set, new 4 and 8 player operations, new Legends PvP characters Saint Walker and Atrocitus, and all new gear and collections.
DC Universe Online's ninth DLC installment will be available later this winter for purchase by Free and Premium players alike via the PSN, in-game marketplace or the official game website.
War of the Light Part I will be available for download for the PC, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 platforms some time during early 2014.
