14 DAY TRIAL // Sony Online Entertainment has announced that the superhero-powered DC Universe Online MMO will get a new piece of downloadable content, called The Last Laugh, during the month of June, on both the PlayStation 3 home console and on the PC.
The DLC is set to introduce Players versus Player events, a new weapon and will allow gamers to use Light Power Legends characters, all of them available for free to those who have Legendary status, while those who have Free or Premium status will need to pay in order to access it.
The new weapon is The Shield, which allows players to either bash enemies in close quarters or to launch it from afar.
DC Universe Online also gets new Safe House battles, with both superheroes and villains encouraged to attack the other side in four-player teams.
The Joker also returns to the MMO and his presence introduces new missions, including Graviton technology recovery, bomb disposal and rescue missions.
The game also delivers Headquarters Battles, which sees eight heroes and eight villains face off with backing from Superman and The Joker.
Jens Andersen, who is a creative director working on DC Universe Online, stated when the new content was launched that, “We created this DLC purely for the players that like to take the fight to each other in DCUO's amazing PvP combat.
“Our community has continuously asked for more multiplayer action in DCUO, and we wanted to deliver content that fully meets their expectations and pushes PvP to another level.”
He added, “The Last Laugh is the first DLC that we've created that focuses almost entirely on player versus player battles, and it adds an exciting new element as some of DC's greatest heroes and villains join to fight alongside you. Players will have even more opportunities to prove to the world whether heroes or villains will be triumphant.”
