Do you remember when the entire fanbase of Batman and Superman freaked out over the announcement that Ben Affleck was cast as the next Batman and he was going to star in the Superman sequel? Of course you do, we all still remember that day which has since gone down in infamy.

Well, the bad news isn't over yet, as Latino-Review brings to light a most worrying rumor that DC Films is planning a new standalone for Ben Affleck as Batman. Affleck has already signed on for two additional movies apart from this first one, but now there are apparently plans for a standalone version.

The rumor also states that the project is so far along that there's already a working title for it and this is (brace yourselves for this one) The Batman, which is basically just as bad as naming this project “Dawn of Justice,” a clear reference to the Justice League.

The source that gives the news makes the valid point of asking whether Affleck is going to want to direct the new standalone Batman movie. He's already had some experience in the director's chair, and he hasn't done that bad in fact. His spy drama “Argo” went on to win several prestigious awards, including some Oscars.

But does Affleck have what it takes to do justice to a Batman project? What do you think?
