D-Link has recently released a new firmware update for its DCS-5222L network camera. Version 2.00.05 comes with no release notes or hints on what's changed so, if you install it, feel free to share your experience in the comments section.

The installation procedure is pretty common. You must first download the D-Link DCS-5222L network camera firmware 2.00.05 and extract the contents of the archive to an accessible location. Make sure to connect the camera with an Ethernet cable before starting the update.

Next, log into the camera web UI with administrator rights and enter the “System” menu. In the “Firmware Upgrade” section, select “Browse” and point out the location of the newly extracted firmware file.

The next step is to hit “Upload” and be patient until the installation finishes. During this process, do not turn off the camera or disconnect the cable or you risk compromising the setup and even the device.

When the update completes, log into your camera's web UI again and, under the “Status” menu, check if the firmware version is 2.00.05. If it is, then the installation completed successfully and you are “updated one minute ago.”
