With the recent slew of home NAS solutions that have been reaching us, D-Link decided is just about time to refresh its consumer line with the two-bay D-Link ShareCenter Pulse that offers increased functionality as well as advanced power management making it one of the nicest home HAS servers available out there.

Featuring a pair of 3.5-inch SATA hard-drive bays, the ShareCenter Pulse is available as is, the NAS coming without any drives pre-installed users having to choose their own HDDs in order to get it working.

However, after installing the HDDs, they will get one of the most advanced home NAS servers around, D-Link's offering coming with UpnP media streaming, a BitTorrent client as well as FTP server and user quotas support.

Furthermore, Apple users will be happy to know this can act as a iTunes server, D-Link also adding Time Machine backup support to the ShareCenter Pulse.

But this is not all that users who decide to go for the ShareCenter Pulse will get as D-Link has went out to make this one of the greenest NAS available, the company including hard-drive hibernation support and a “Green Ethernet” mode that allows the device to optimize power usage based on dynamic cable detection.

Apart from these options, the NAS comes with an smart fan that automatically adjusts its rpm according to the temperature and a “schedule power off” function that offers the ability to power down the device when not in use.

“The appetite for digital content today is already staggering and this will only grow as consumer behaviour continues to evolve,” said Chris Davies, general manager D-Link UK and Ireland.

“Our new ShareCenter products will provide home users with easy-to-manage, plug & play storage capability that will enable them to share and back-up their personal digital content.

With our Boxee Box now on the market, ShareCenter Pulse is an ideal complementary product for users looking to access and share content over the network or the Internet,” concluded the company's rep.

The ShareCenter Pulse will go on sale right now in the UK for £89.99 or about $141 US.
