Having the best possible network connection can prove to be a crucial element for most gamers, especially when engaging in online battles and raids. However, fast and reliable data transfers can be a problem in the case of wireless networks, and this is the reason why the D-Link company has just announced the Xtreme N gaming router, a device that will most likely seriously improve the gaming experience.

Thus, according to the company's statement, the new networking device is optimized for both PC gaming and game consoles, such as the Microsoft Xbox and Sony PlayStation and provides gamers with increased control to maximize online performance by
incorporating D-Link's Xtreme N Duo wireless technology (allowing users to choose the 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz band), a high-performance CPU and a Network Activity Display for instant review of network settings. Moreover, it incorporates the company's GameFuel technology, an intelligent packet processing engine integrated directly in the router that gives online games priority for bandwidth over all other Internet applications.

The DGL-4500 Xtreme N gaming router includes Gigabit WAN and LAN ports for ultimate performance when used as a wired router, which is ideal for LAN parties. The Network Activity Display provides time-saving benefits for avid gamers wanting to monitor their network performance and keep it running at optimal levels. Among the settings available for viewing, customers can quickly check the gaming router's security types, network speeds, wireless network names, and much more. Gamers can also use the available D-Link Network Monitor Yahoo! Widget for real-time network information delivered right to the desktop.

And since we've mentioned security, let's take a look at what the gaming router has to offer in this specific area. Thus, the device supports the most advanced wireless security standards, as for example the Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA and WPA-2), and advanced firewall features such as Network Address Translation (NAT), Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI), and Virtual Private Network (VPN) Pass-Through/Multi-Sessions.

"Designed with gamers in mind, the Xtreme N version of our gaming router surpasses the high-performance demands of today's online interactive video games with the fusion of D-Link GameFuel technology, Gigabit ports and the latest Draft 802.11n wireless local area network (WLAN) connectivity," said Daniel Kelley, director of marketing, D-Link Systems, Inc. "For serious online gaming, where every millisecond counts, gamers need the fastest router available to give them a competitive edge. This is that router."

The new Xtreme N gaming router from D-Link will hit the shelves later on this year at a suggested retail price of around $239.99, which is not even that expensive, taking into consideration the advanced features this thing has to offer.
