
D-Link has announced that it will sell a new line of ''V-CLICK'' dual-mode phones.
The
handsets will allow users to switch between cellular and Wi-Fi networks whenever they need. With a simple press of the V-CLICK button, the phone activates or deactivates the
Wi-Fi connection that allows users to access websites or an Internet phone service.
D-Link V-CLICK phones have a sleek, polished black compact form factor and measure 106 x 44 x 19 mm. The V-CLICK phones support
Opera Mobile, a mobile browser for logging into Wi-Fi hot spots, web surfing and email functionality on the V-CLICK's 2 inch (176 x 220 pixels) bright color screen.
The D-Link V-CLICK tri-band (900/1800/1900) phones will be delievered "unlocked", allowing users to use their existing SIMs and pre-paid SIMs from traditional
GSM cellular service providers anywhere in the world. By pressing the V-CLICK button, users activate a configurable wireless and SIP profile. Multiple profiles are available that make usage between home and office automatic. V-Click will also comes with an 802.11 WiFi radio, 24MB of internal memory for user file storage, and
E-mail client. D-Link stated that users will be able to have up to 5 hours talk time on GSM, and 2 hours while in 802.11 wireless mode.
V-CLICK begins shipping during the first quarter of 2007, at an estimated price of $600.
