Despite not officially offering any gameplay details about their upcoming Cyberpunk, the development team at CD Projekt RED is willing to talk about their approach for the game world and they have revealed that they will use the same tone that has lead The Witcher series to success.

Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, who is working as a game director on Cyberpunk, has told VG247 that, “The choice of the game universe was easy. We still wanted to create games designed for the grown-up gamer, and Cyberpunk is the perfect setting which allows us to touch other important themes than those in The Witcher, because of its fantasy setting.”

He added, “What you can expect from Cyberpunk is that it will be as mature as The Witcher and set in a realistic and brutal world.”

Konrad Tomaszkiewicz also talked about how CD Projekt RED is working with the creator of the Cyberpunk pen and paper game, Mike Pondsmith, to make sure that they do not stray from his vision.

Cyberpunk is set in the near future and will include a number of customization options for the main character which will be reflected in the way the game actually plays.

The game world will be a gritty and complex one where each action has clear consequences.

CD Projekt RED is best known for the way it has translated the world of The Witcher books to the video game medium, creating a complex action role-playing experience that approached a number of mature themes.

The game was praised for its graphical quality and for the way it made the choices of the main character one of the most important elements of the game, with the second game playing out the second act in very different ways based on how the player reacts to one event.

Cyberpunk will probably be launched during 2014.
