It's really funny to see how new software launches and updates take place while their producer's websites go down, but when this happens to free programs,
I guess we can forgive them. But who's the victim of all this today?
Cyberduck, the popular FTP/SFTP client that probably most Mac users have heard about, and which I am sure that a large number of them are already using it, was updated! The last version is 2.7 and was announced by Macnn.com just two days ago, and today, while looking for some more information about this new release, I found that the official page is down. For how long, that's what we should see, but I hope they'll be back as soon as possible.
Leaving the site problem behind, what I have been able to find out, despite the absence of the official page from the Internet at this moment, is that this new version of this "Macintosh FileZilla" (I know this may not be the best way to put it, but for me, Cyberduck has just replaced FileZilla, so the previous statement is correct for me; I'll give you a detailed report about this in a few weeks, don't worry!) was "refactored for improved performance".
"Improved performance" means user interrupts and background operation are now available for all network operations, but it doesn't end here, since the error handling has also been improved, allowing users to easily repeat tasks that failed.
If you don't know Cyberduck yet, then I can tell you that this is a FTP/SFTP client for the Mac platform that can give you support for external editors and technologies such as Spotlight, Bonjour, the Keychain and AppleScript. Same as FileZilla, this is a GPL product, and if you have problems or just don't like the English language, you can use it in Czech, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Italian and others, up to over 20 languages!
This is it for now, but I'll be back as soon as the website is backed up and, hopefully, more interesting things need to be said about Cyberduck!
