In order to ensure that their malicious campaigns record a success, cybercriminals must always keep up with the changes made by the companies whose names and reputations they leverage. That’s exactly what a group in charge of an eBay phishing scam has done.

eBay has recently changed its logo and while the new one is not completely different compared to the old one, this minor detail can make the difference between a successful and an unsuccessful phishing scheme.

GFI Labs experts have found that there still are some phishing webpages on which the eBay logo has remained unchanged. However, there are some fraudsters who want to keep up with the latest trends so they have rushed to update the logo.

The good news for you is that now you can spot phishing websites more easily. If you see that it bears the old logo, it’s probably a scam.

On the other hand, you should still be cautious when clicking on shady links, since most criminals will surely update their pages in the upcoming period.
