The Steam Summer Sale is over, but that doesn’t prevent cybercriminals from leveraging the event’s popularity in their malicious schemes.

Experts from ThreatTrack Security spotted a phishing scam only a few days after the event ended.

The phishing site claims the event is still ongoing and promises unsuspecting users a bunch of gifts. The crooks promise game activation keys to anyone willing to hand over their Steam username, email address and password.

Of course, no one gets any free activation keys. Instead, the phishers harvest credentials which they can abuse in various ways.

Unfortunately, the phishing site spotted by ThreatTrack Security is still active, so Steam customers are advised to be careful.

In case you’re a victim of this scam, be sure to change your Steam password immediately. If you use the same passphrase for multiple accounts, be sure to change it for all of them.
