Just like ASUS has just launched the Tytan G70 gaming desktop computer, CyberPowerPC has formally launched a gaming notebook called Fang Taipan, one that, in core respects, is similar to the desktop.

Which is to say, the newcomer combines the benefits of a fourth-generation Intel CPU (Intel Core i7-4700MQ, 2.4/3.4 GHz, 6 MB cache) with those of NVIDIA graphics (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 765M 2 GB GDDR5).

Interestingly enough, there are two of those discrete graphics adapters, not one. In SLI mode, obviously.

Yes, once again, NVIDIA won primacy when it came to the specifications sheet.

Fortunately for those that prefer Advanced Micro Devices hardware, AMD GPUs can be used as well: dual AMD Radeon HD 8970M in CrossFire mode.

Meanwhile, the memory capacity is of 16 GB (two 8 GB DDR3 SODIMM modules in dual-channel mode).

Moving on, storage space is provided by a 64 GB SanDisk SATA III 6.0 Gb/s solid-state drive (SSD) and a 750 GB 7200 RPM SATA300 Hard Drive.

Furthermore, the notebook boasts an illuminated keyboard, 802.11 b/g/n Wireless LAN + Bluetooth combo, and an 8X DVD±R/RW/4X + DL Super-Multi Drive.

All the hardware is hidden beneath the keyboard, while the top half of the laptop only holds the 17.3-inch Full HD LCD display (1920 x 1080 pixels).

Obviously, the CyberPowerPC Fang Taipan M2 runs the Microsoft Windows 8 operating system (64-bit edition)

The base price is of $1,869 / €1,414-1,869 and accounts for the HDMI output, Onkyo speaker system supported by premium Sound Blaster X-Fi MB3 audio technology, and USB 3.0 and e-SATA interfaces. Better hardware (32 GB RAM, Intel Core i7-4930MX Extreme Edition CPU) will push the tag higher though.

As for the design, it's not as embellished as one might expect. While the case is angular and smoothed out, it doesn't have a myriad of accents, although the touchpad does have a nice, blue glowing logo shining from within its depths.
