The new line of desktops combines the best processors and graphics cards

The sight of the CyberPower Power Mega III desktop PC may very well leave people a bit confused, since the look and feel speak of strong performance, and the white is quite striking to look at, but the understated aesthetics don't support the assumption that it may be a gaming system.

The reason for the ambiguity is simple: while this is a very powerful desktop PC, it is not made for games but for professional graphics design and the like.

The Power Mega III combines the benefits of an Intel fourth-generation Haswell CPU (powerful Core i7) with an NVIDIA Quadro K or AMD FirePro graphics adapter.

And since Quadro and FirePro are usually stronger than GeForce and Radeon, respectively, we can easily see why CuyberPower would claim that its new system could “set the bar for high-performance workstations.”

CAD (computer-aided design) applications should work very smoothly, especially if more than one video card is used.

Having an SSD or more would help as well, as they significantly improve the data transfer and access speeds.

Fully aware of this, CyberPower allows customers to select dual 120 GB SSDs with a 3 TB HDD for long-term storage.

And now we reach the most important part: while some of the “lower-end” Power Mega series (Power Mega III 1000 / Power Mega III 1000 Video) have “normal” motherboards, there are systems with dual-Xeon CPUs.

In those cases, e-ATX motherboards have to be used, hence the size of the PC enclosure. Dual liquid cooling systems (one for each CPU) are used in those situations.

Among the stronger hardware options are the NVIDIA Quadro K4000 GPU, 32GB of ECC memory, and dual Xenon E5-2630 CPUs (a total of 24 cores of processing power).

Starting prices range from $1,000 / €1,000 to $4,250 / €4,250. Find more on the company website.
