Earlier this week, Alienware was ever so proudly announcing the official release of its CrossFire X-enabled M17 gaming laptop, which combined the latest Intel processors with the graphics performance achieved by two ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3870 GPUs.

Now, it seems that Alienware's high-end gaming laptop has just received a new competitor that also features the CrossFire X capability of the M17. Released by CyberPower, the Gamer Xtreme M1 comes with a choice of Intel's Penryn Core 2 Duo or Extreme processors, which can be combined with two ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3870 512MB video cards for the ultimate gaming experience.

As with the M17 from Alienware, the new Gamer Xtreme M1 comes built with a large 17-inch display, capable of a maximum resolution of 1920 by 1200 pixels. Aside from the high-performance processors and the CrossFireX graphics capability, the new gaming laptop has also been fitted with an impressive 4GB of DDR3 1066MB RAM memory and a high-capacity 320GB 5400RPM hard drive.

Additional features include a built-in Super-Multi drive, a media card slot, express card slot, 3 USB 2.0 ports, HDMI, D-sub, 2W Stereo speakers and subwoofer, as well as the usual 802.11 a/g/n wireless LAN and Bluetooth connectivity, built-in 2.0 MP webcamera and fingerprint reader. To top it all off, the high-performance portable gaming rig has been featured with a large 12-cell Lithium-Ion battery, to deliver more battery life, as gaming applications tend to be highly demanding on the system's hardware.

The basic configuration, which will offer you the power of a Core 2 Duo T9400 processor, running at 2.53GHz, is priced at $2,199. For an extra $579, the system's CPU can be upgraded to an Intel Core 2 Extreme CPU, while a lower specced Intel Core 2 Duo P8400, running at 2.26GHz, can save you about $120. Adding an additional 128GB SSD is a rather pricey option ($420), while going for a 7200RPM 320GB will also empty your pockets of an additional $80.
