A few weeks ago NVIDIA announced its latest set of graphic cards, the GeForce GTX 970M and 980M, which are meant to go into notebooks and desktop computers.

And CyberPOWER was one of the first gaming solution providers to announce it was releasing a laptop bundling the all-new architecture. We’re talking about the FangBook Edge which is a very thin lappy coming with an impressive 4K display and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M GPU.

CyberPOWER launches new laptop with older GPU

Anyway, if you don’t mind buying a gaming laptop taking advantage of a previous-gen GPU, CyberPOWER has just announced a new product that ships out with GTX 800M series.

The laptop is also part of the FangBook family and is entitled the III HX6. Just like the FangBook Edge, the newcomer takes advantage of 15.6-inch full HD (1920 x 1080 pixel resolution) LED-backlit display with anti-glare technology.

CyberPOWER makes a point in highlighting the panel is quite efficient and doesn’t put a big strain on overall power consumption.

As for the computing department, the power house of the device consists of an Intel Core i7-4700MQ processor fitted with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M and up to 8GB of internal storage. The GPU inside belongs to the previous generation and is not top of the line (the 880M is).

Nevertheless, CyberPOWER promises the GTX 860M with 4GB of GDDR5 memory will help boost battery life and power efficiency.

The Fangbook III HX6 is fully customizable

A range of CPU options from the Intel Core i7 garden are thrown in the mix and you can choose a version that can go as far as 3.4GHz when needed.

In the storage department, we should mention the Fangbook III HX6 is compatible with mSATA SSDs and standard 2.5-inch hard drives.

To make the laptop stand out from the crowd, CyberPOWER has added a few distinctive features.

For starters, the laptop has an automatic kickstand which is activated when the notebook is opened in order to facilitate the free of air on the bottom surface, which should ensure the temperature remains stable across various levels of use.

Furthermore, the kickstand brings about another advantage. It slightly tilts the keyboard towards the user, something that should reduce wrist strain.

The lappy’s keyboard implements three shortcuts, one for switching on active cooling, one for backlight mode and one for instructing the system to go in underclock mode.

The Fangbook II HX6 can be customized with optional memory, storage options, a higher resolution display and your operating system of choice.

The laptop’s starting price is $1100 / €865. This is notably cheaper than the Fangbook Edge with NVIDIA GeForce 970M which starts at $1689 / €1337 (for the 1080p version).
