The CyanogenMod team, the group of developers behind the highly popular custom ROMs for Android-based devices, has started working on new builds of their software, based on the latest release of Google’s mobile operating system.

However, while the first steps have already been taken, it remains to be seen when exactly the software will be ready for a public release.

Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean has started arriving on Google’s Nexus lineup only several days ago, and is currently rolling out to Nexus 4, Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 devices.

No manufacturer has yet announced plans to make the new platform release available for its users, and it might take a while before owners of other handsets and tablets than those mentioned above are able to get a taste of the OS in an official manner.

In the meantime, however, CyanogenMod might prove a great option for them.
